Hey American Christian friends, the answer to the question above is no, but we should definitely be involved in civic affairs and government! After all, civic affairs and government are God’s ideas, but man polluted them and named it “politics.” BTW – a wise man once pointed out (tongue-in-cheek, of course) that poly (or poli) means “many,” and tics are blood-suckers! You decide whether or not it is descriptive of what we call politics today!

Seriously though, our nation has lost almost total sight of how and why America was founded, and it has EVERYTHING to do with Christian values and principles. True, Bible prophecy is finding fulfillment right before our very eyes, but that doesn’t mean we hunker down and just await the rapture! Jesus said, “Occupy till I come!” This is not time to relax and wait for Jesus to come. Just the opposite! We must be fighters for righteousness if our Master is to find us “good and faithful servants!” (Matthew 25:21)

Allow me to get very practical now. Sadly, I hear Christians say, “I agree, but I don’t know what to do.” To which I say, “Stop it!!!” (With a smile on my face!) Perhaps it was true a few years ago, but there are now so many ways to get plugged in to make a difference in our families, churches, school boards, cities and states. We no longer have an excuse. What we need, though, is true leadership. Not elected officials, but rather people in the church who will stand up and say, “Here is what we can do!”

So, I’m saying it: “Here is what we can do!”

Is it too late? I don’t know! But it is certainly too late if we do nothing, and we will not be found good and faithful stewards of what God has given us in America if we fail to fight for it!
