Signs of the Times: Weather Events

It is impossible to see what’s going on in our world today and deny that we live in unprecedented times. Some say it is a phase we’re going through. Others go on through life as though nothing is happening. True students of God’s Word see it much differently and understand what Scripture tells us about the end times.

Personally, I believe these unprecedented times are the last moments of the last days. Most assuredly, God is God and can do as He pleases. Yet short of an incredibly miraculous move of the Holy Spirit, it seems our world is beyond the point of return when it comes to Bible prophecy. Things are spinning so quickly it would truly take divine intervention by the Supreme Creator and Sustainer of the Universe (God Himself) to prevent our world from soon sliding into utter destruction and chaos described in the Bible as the tribulation.

Why do I say that? Because there are signs all around us that point to the fulfillment of end time prophecy. Over the next few days we’ll talk about some of them. Today’s focus is on weather events.

When Jesus’ disciples asked Him what the signs of the end would be, one thing Jesus mentioned was weather events. (Matthew 24:7) Though that passage speaks specifically of earthquakes, other passages speak of storms, disruptions in the atmosphere and strange occurrences in celestial space. When strange things happen in the realm of sun, moon, stars and atmosphere, storms occur.

To add fuel to the fire, our world is ablaze with fear of climate change. “Experts” such as the Swedish teenager who lectures us about destroying her world, insist that humans are entirely at fault for global warming. Strangely, threats of another ice age were heard only a few decades ago!

But arguing about climate change is not the point. Instead, the point is that woke globalists are unwittingly creating their own excuse for why things are going to get really bad during the last days! Forget that the Bible has predicts it! Surely, the reason for it all is climate change!

Here is a list of severe weather events (most of them deadly) and celestial events that have occurred just this month alone:

  • Floods severe enough to wash away vehicles in Mexico, Turkey, United States (Las Vegas), Sri Lanka, Spain, Bulgaria, Greece, China, Libya, England, Indonesia, South Africa, France, Oman, Saudia Arabia, Thailand and India.
  • Massive hailstorms in Portugal, Spain and the country of Georgia.
  • Deadly earthquakes in Morocco, New Zealand, Northern California, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, Italy, Australia, Philippines and Russia.
  • Incredibly destructive typhoons/cyclones/hurricanes in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Caribbean and the Dominican Republic.
  • Large meteors entering the atmosphere in Syria, Turkey and Spain.
  • Severely destructive windstorms or tornados in Colombia, Russia, United States (Kansas, Arizona), Morocco, Algeria, China and Italy.
  • Deadly lightning strikes in India and Saudi Arabia.
  • Intense snowstorms in Argentina and Sweden.
  • Deadly wildfires in Colombia.

Yes, bad weather has been around since the days of Noah. But we are witnessing significantly increased frequency and severity of those events.

If it was only a gigantic increase in weather events over the past few years, we could chalk it up to weather cycles that have been around since the beginning of time. However, when unusually severe weather events increase significantly in frequency and severity, and are accompanied by other signs of the times, we know the end is coming more swiftly than ever before.

We’ll consider corruption and deception tomorrow, then we will take a close look at signs of the times even in the church. Together, all these things give us warning that our days on earth are numbered. What are we doing with the days we have? As believers in Jesus, are we awake and sober as God’s Word tells us to be, or are we among those who go through life as though nothing out of the ordinary is happening?

27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

~Luke 17:27-30
