Sources indicate significant disagreements remain in negotiations involving the Iranian nuclear deal. Based on reports from this morning, here are the major sticking points:
- US requires:
- Iran to immediately cease enrichment of uranium
- Iran to allow immediate access of nuclear facilities to inspectors
- Iran requires:
- US removal of all sanctions
- US to guarantee they will not exit a new agreement
As you see, the key points are significant. However, one never knows what backroom deals could be going on! Think back to the billions of dollars Obama sent to Iran following the initial nuclear deal…all done apart from the “official” negotiations. Pray for wisdom and transparency in negotiations.
Meanwhile, over 100 sensible US Congressional leaders are encouraging Joe Biden to cease negotiations with Iran. It is astounding that, of 535 Senators and Representatives, only about 100 are pressuring the Biden administration to exit these negotiations. However, I am very thankful for those taking that stand as Iran is already too far down the path, holds the trump cards (no pun intended), and any “deal” made now would be fully in Iran’s favor.
If that’s not enough, earlier today American C-RAM defense systems have gone off in the US-occupied Green Zone, where the US Embassy is located in Baghdad. Undoubtedly, the attacks are from Iranian-backed militias, and these are not the first attacks on American bases. To think we are negotiating with the Iranian regime is absurd!
Friends, our world keeps turning, and our God is still on the throne! (Good news: He always will be!) Regardless of decisions made in Washington, regardless of evil intent domestically and abroad, regardless of the trials we face, we can rest assured that Jesus will be faithful to His words:
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”~John 14:1-3
May that day be soon…and may we be found faithful when our Savior comes to take us to be with Him!
