DEVELOPING: US Troops Face “Possible Imminent” Attack

Newsweek is reporting intelligence regarding “possible imminent” attacks on US military positions in Germany. According to Newsweek:

The U.S.’s 66th Military Intelligence Brigade received what was described as “third party information stating there was an [sic] possible imminent attack against U.S. Soldiers located at either Tower Barracks in Grafenwohr or Tower Barracks, Dulmen, exact location, date and time unknown.” Newsweek reviewed the information marked unclassified from a senior U.S. intelligence official.

Commanders are stressing the importance of safety and security and have advised soldiers to be vigilant. They have also employed the “see something, say something” principle, so that any suspicious activity can be evaluated.

I suggest that what we see in the physical realm is also true in the spiritual realm. How often do we “receive intelligence” about imminent spiritual attacks? Does the Holy Spirit guide you? “Intelligence” doesn’t get any better than that! Yet, do we heed His guidance? Are we vigilant in protecting our hearts and minds against what will cause us harm?

Titus 2:12 instructs us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age. That requires diligence in employing the “intelligence” given to us by the Holy Spirit! Have you ever tried to deny ungodliness and worldly desires on your own? Oh, what a mess we make! And how are you doing living sensibly, righteously and godly? Our heart and desire may be in the right place, but even still, without the power of the Holy Spirit, we don’t do very well, do we?

My friends, we are soldiers in the Lord’s army. Notice what the apostle Paul said to his faithful disciple, Timothy:

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

~2 Timothy 2:1-4

As soldiers in the Lord’s army, we are to avoid entanglement in the affairs of life. To be a good soldier, we must please the One who enlisted us! Interesting, the One who called us also employs the “see something, say something” principle! Ezekiel 33 teaches us that we must shout the warning about what we see. Signs of the time indicate that time on this earth is short and God is allowing the stage to be set for the final acts of the play that will play out on earth. Are you “saying something” about the immanency of Jesus’ return?

Just as those US soldiers on threatened bases in Europe must heed the warnings and act accordingly, so we must respond to our Commander-in-Chief as well.

Pray for our soldiers, and pray for strength and boldness to do as our Lord commands. We are blessed if we do!
